Treat yourself to a tour of Hollywood via boat. The Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi, which runs from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. each night, makes a special three-stop run south down to Hollywood Beach.
With more than 160 miles of waterways, Fort Lauderdale is nicknamed The Venice of America. Water Taxi makes a total of 15 stops. Nine of the stops occur on the line’s east-west run along the New River, which parallels Los Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. At Stop 5 you can switch to the three-stop Hollywood Route, which runs south. At Stop 9 on the main Water Taxi route you can access the Northern route, which runs north for three more stops.
The Water Taxi stops at three locations along Hollywood Beach. After hitting the southernmost stop at Crowne Plaza, the boat turns and heads north. The Hollywood route runs from 9: 30 a.m. until 10 p.m.
You can ride the Hollywood route – between Stop 5 and Crowne Plaza -- all day for only $11. For a few dollars more, you can ride the Fort Lauderdale route and the Northern route, too. Stop 5 is located directly under the 17th Street Bridge in Fort Lauderdale. Stop 5 also is Stop A on the Hollywood route.
Stop B on the Hollywood route occurs at Giorgio’s Bakery and Bistro. It’s the stop nearest Johnson Street, an active beach location. Several parking garages are in the area.
Stop C on the Hollywood route happens at Westin Diplomat. Stop D, the final stop on the route, is at Crown Plaza. If you disembark here to enjoy the Hollywood Broadwalk, the last boat heading back north departs at 8:20 p.m.
